This leftover turkey salad is a great high protein salad that you can easily pull together any day of the week.
- Greens. I like to use Romaine lettuce for this salad, but you can use spring mix, red leaf or green leaf, arugula or any lettuce you like.
- Turkey. We use leftover turkey breast for this recipe, but you could also use turkey deli lunch meat.
- Turkey bacon. I like to use turkey bacon rather than pork bacon.
- Hardboiled Eggs. Eggs are a traditional ingredient in a classic Cobb salad.
- Cheese. We use a mild cheddar for this recipe.
- Tomatoes. I use cherry tomatoes for this recipe, but you can also use garden ripe vine tomatoes if you like.
- Cucumber. I like to use English cucumber for this recipe, because they are crispier, have a thinner skin and fewer seeds. They add a nice crunch to this salad.
- Avocado. Avocado adds a nice creaminess to this salad.
- Dressing. We toss this salad with homemade Ranch Dressing.

Ranch Dressing Recipe
This buttermilk ranch dressing comes together in about 5 minutes start-to-finish. But you’ll want to refrigerate it for up to an hour (longer even better) to allow the flavors to really blend together.
- Real mayonnaise. I use Best Foods (I think it has the best flavor).
- Buttermilk. This adds a rich flavor to the dressing.
- Seasoning. We use Dried dill weed, parsley, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and freshly cracked black pepper. This combo gives this dressing an addictive flavor.
Variations
- Add 1-2 cloves fresh garlic (grated or finely minced) instead of powder.
- Add 2 green onions, finely minced.
- Use half yogurt and half mayonnaise or half sour cream and half mayonnaise instead of all mayonnaise.

How to Make Ranch Dressing
This Ranch Dressing comes together in a pinch. If you add fresh garlic and green onion, its best to blend the ingredients in a food processor or blender so the flavors really meld together well.
- Whisk Mayo with Seasoning – Mix the mayonnaise and the seasoning together with a whisk or fork until well incorporated.
- Add buttermilk -Whisk in the buttermilk to the mayo and seasoning mixture.
- Refrigerate – Pour into a mason jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator for up to an hour before serving. The flavors will blend together better the longer the dressing chills in the refrigerator.
How to Cook Hardboiled Eggs
- Fill a large pot with cool water and add eggs. The water should cover them by an inch or more.
- Boil eggs for 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the pot and refill with cold water. Let eggs sit in cold water for another 2-3 minute.
How Do You Fry Turkey Bacon?
Heat 3-4 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil or avocado oil in a skillet over medium high heat and add 4 slices to the pan. Turn once or twice until it is browned on both sides and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. As the bacon cools, it will become more crispy. It won’t be as crispy as pork bacon, but it tastes just as good and you’ll be able to crumble, chop or tear it into bigger pieces to add to this salad.
Tips For Making Turkey Avocado Cobb Salad
- Store the salad and dressing separately in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve. Then drizzle the dressing around the outer side of the ingredients in the bowl and fold the dressing into the ingredients and toss. This is a better way to evenly distribute and to lightly coat the ingredients rather than weighing things down by pouring the dressing directly over the top of the ingredients.
- The salad keeps in the refrigerator best for up to 3 days if it has not been tossed with dressing. If you toss the salad with dressing, leftovers in the refrigerator will only be appetizing for about 1 day.
