Peach Tea Recipe

You will only need 4 ingredients to make this iced peach tea recipe.

  • Green tea bags.  We use green tea bags for this recipe.
  • Peaches. You can use either fresh or frozen peaches to make this tea. I like to keep a bag of frozen peaches in my freezer so I can make this tea any time I like whether or not they’re in season.
  • Water.  Use spring water or filtered water. Dilute with as much or as little water as you like for your desired level of sweetness and tartness.
  • Honey. We use honey for this recipe rather than pure cane sugar. The health benefits of honey can be lost when honey is heated, so we don’t heat the honey to make this recipe, instead we blend or stir the honey with water which dissolves the honey just fine.

  2. Steep Tea. Add the rest of the water and peach puree in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the tea bags to steep.
  3. Strain.  Strain the peach green tea through a sieve into a pitcher if you want to remove any flecks of peach from the tea.

Can I Use Frozen Peaches?

Yes! Frozen peaches can be used to make peach tea, but you’ll want to thaw them first.

How Do You Peel Peaches?

The easiest way to peel peaches is to blanch them in hot water.

  • Prepare Ice Bath.  Fill a bowl with cold water and 1 cup of ice.
  • Blanch Peaches. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently add peaches to the pot of boiling water and blanch for 30 seconds.
  • Cool Peaches. Using a slotted spoon or strainer, remove peaches from the boiling water and place in the ice bath for a few minutes to cool enough for handling.
  • Peel Peaches. Remove from the ice bath and run a knife all the way around the peach from top to bottom. Gently twist the peach in opposite directions loosening it from the pit. Pull the halves apart and remove the pit. At this point the peels should pull away easily from the flesh with the knife.

How to Steep Tea

You’ll typically use about 1 tea bag per 1 cup water.

  • Fill tea kettle or pot with cold water and heat to a simmer just before boiling then remove from heat.
  • Pour hot water over tea leaves (rather than adding tea leaves to a cup with hot water) and steep.
  • If using an infuser, be sure the tea infuser is fully submerged beneath water while steeping.
  • Remove tea bag or infuser.

Steeping Loose Leaf Tea

You’ll use about 1 teaspoon loose tea leaves per 1 cup water.

  • Put loose tea leaves right in the cup or tea pot.
  • Add the tea leaves to a ball style infuser to dunk in your cup or pot.
  • Place your tea leaves in a metal strainer and rest it on the lip of your tea cup while pouring the hot water over the tea leaves.
  • Add tea bag to tea cup and pour hot water over tea bag and steep (don’t squeeze tea bag while steeping because it will cause a bitter ta

How Long Do You Steep Green Tea?

How long to steep green tea depends really on how strong you like your tea. The longer you steep it, the more bitter tasting it can become.

  • Loose Leaf Tea. Steep for 2 to 4 minutes
  • Tea Bag.  Steep for 1 to 3 minutes
