Turkey burger bowls are great to make when you want something light and easy to make for dinner. The flavors in this healthy burger bowl are really amazing. We make it for lunch or dinner at least one day a week. In the summertime, we’ll add some grilled corn cut from the cob and we’ll add a little barbecue sauce while the patties are cooking.

Turkey Burger Bowl Recipe

  • Ground Turkey.  We use ground turkey that is 85% lean and 15% fat or 93% lean and 7% fat. The higher the fat content, the more moist and flavorful the burgers will be.
  • Seasoning. We add in fresh garlic and green onion, onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper which adds a lot of flavor to the burger patties.
  • Mayonnaise and Dijon. We add a little mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and Worchestershire sauce to the ground turkey which adds a lot of moisture and more flavor to the meat.
  • Olive Oil. We use a little olive oil to cook the burgers with in a pan.
  • Cheese. We use cheddar cheese slices, but use whatever cheese you like.
  • Turkey Bacon. Add crispy fried turkey bacon to the bowls to make them extra tasty! And then fry the turkey burgers in the oil that you fried the bacon in. So good!
  • Greens. We use Romaine lettuce for these bowls, but you could use spring mix if you prefer.
  • Tomato. Add chopped tomatoes or cherry tomatoes to the bowls.
  • Onion. We like to use raw red onion slices for these bowls, but caramelized onions are pretty amazing too!
  • Pickles. Add some of your favorite dill pickles to the bowl.
  • Dressing. Serve with our quick and easy Homemade Ranch Dressing.

How To Make Burger Bowls

  1. Make Dressing. Whisk together the ingredients for the dressing.
  2. Fry Bacon.  Heat 3-4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil in a skillet.  Carefully lay the turkey bacon slices into the hot oil, cooking 3-4 slices at a time. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy.
  3. Cook Burger Patties.  Cook the turkey burger patties for about 5 minutes on each side. Slice the patties into four strips and add a slice of cheese or sprinkle grated cheese over the slices. Place the lid over the pan for a minute so the cheese melts.
  4. Assemble Bowls. Toss lettuce with red onion slices, cherry tomatoes, grated cheese, crumbled or chopped turkey bacon. Evenly divide the salad into four bowls and place a patty on top of the greens in each bowl. Add a few pickles and serve with one of our dressings.A turkey patty with melted cheese on chopped lettuce, tomatoes, onion and pickles.

Make Ahead Meal Prep Instructions

These burger bowls are quick and easy to prepare ahead of time with these simple tips.

  1. Mix the meat ingredients and form into patties. Lay the patties on a parchment lined plate or baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for up to 2 days before cooking.
  2. To freeze the patties, lay the patties on a parchment lined plate or baking sheet in a single layer and place in the freezer for 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and transfer to an airtight freezer safe container or plastic bags with parchment squares between each patty to keep them from sticking together.
  3. Thaw the patties before cooking.
  4. Prepare the salad ingredients and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the ingredients for the dressing. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until you're ready to serve.
