Breakfast Sliders Recipe
These sausage breakfast sliders are super easy to make, taking about 30 minutes start-to-finish.
- Eggs. I like to use brown free-range eggs, but use whatever you prefer.
- Butter. We use a little unsalted butter to scramble the eggs with.
- Sausage. I like to use turkey sausage patties.
- Rolls. We use King’s Original Hawaiian sweet rolls.
- Cheese. We use mild cheddar cheese and Havarti cheese slices for these sliders.
- Seasoning. We just season the eggs with a little salt and pepper.
- Melted maple butter. After the sliders are assembled, we brush the top with melted maple butter, AND we serve these sliders with extra melted maple butter for dipping (which makes them completely habit-forming).

How To Make Breakfast Sliders
This breakfast sliders recipe is a breeze to make for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner.
- Cook sausage. I prefer to cook the sausage in a skillet rather than in the oven. There are some brands of turkey sausage out there that are sold fully cooked, so all you need to do is give them a quick cook in a skillet to heat them through.
- Scramble eggs. Heat the butter in a skillet (non-stick skillet even better) and scramble them until they are just done. Don’t overcook them because they will cook a little more while in the oven.
- Slice rolls. Using a long sharp knife, slice through all of the rolls so there is a top and a bottom (but leave all of the individual rolls attached to the whole).
- Layer sliders. Put the bottom half of the rolls in a 9″ x 13″ baking dish. Layer the Havarti cheese slices to cover the bottom of the rolls. Spread the scramble eggs over the cheese slices. Next lay the 12 sausage patties on top of the cheese. Then lay the cheddar cheese slices over the sausage patties. Put the top part of the rolls on top of the sausage patties and brush generously with melted maple butter.
- Bake. Bake the sliders in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese has melted. I like to bake the sliders on the middle rack, then lay a piece of aluminum foil on the top rack to protect the rolls from getting over done while the sliders cook long enough for the cheese to melt.
- Cut sliders. After you have removed the baking dish from the oven, use a sharp knife to cut the sliders into 12 individual sliders.
- Serve. Serve with melted maple butter for dipping the sliders in. This makes the sliders taste really amazing!
Step-By-Step Instructions
1. Using a sharp long knife, slice the whole pack of rolls in half.
2. Lay 6 pieces of Havarti cheese on top of the bottom layer of the rolls. Then spoon the cooked scrambled eggs over the cheese, and place the sausage patties over the eggs.
3. Add 6 more slices of cheese over the sausage. We use mild cheddar, but you can use American cheese or whatever you like.
4. Put the top of the rolls on the cheese and brush the tops generously with maple butter (melted butter mixed with pure maple syrup). Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
5. After the sliders come out of the oven, use a sharp knife to slice them into individual sliders.
6. Serve with extra melted maple butter for dipping the sliders in.
How To Make Melted Maple Butter
Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick) in a small sauce pan. After the butter is melted, pour in the pure maple syrup and stir well. Serve warm.
Can I Make These Sliders Ahead Of Time?
Yes, just prepare the sliders as directed, but don’t brush them yet with maple butter. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to heat them in the oven. When you’re ready to heat the sliders, brush the tops generously with maple butter and place the baking dish on the middle rack. Tear a sheet of aluminum foil the size of the baking dish and put it on the top shelf in the oven covering the baking dish on the shelf below. This will help prevent the tops of the sliders from becoming dried out, overly browned or burned. Since the sliders are going from the refrigerator to the oven, they made need to cook a little longer.
How To Store Them
Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Can I Freeze Them?
Put leftover sliders in an airtight container or freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
Serving Suggestions
These sausage breakfast sliders are pretty satisfying all on their own, but if you’re looking for some ideas of what you can serve them with – a pitcher full of fresh juice or fruit smoothie, a bowl of fruit salad or homemade breakfast potatoes would all go nicely with these sliders.
