I used to buy green juices at my local health food store all the time, but then I wised up and started making them at home. This green juice recipe is easy to make, less expensive than the store-bought juices and you can customize it however you like.
This healthy green juice recipe is really delicious and refreshing and I love all the nutritional perks that go along with it.
Green Juice Ingredients
The list of green juice ingredients that you’ll need for this recipe is a simple one, and the combination of flavors makes a tasty green juice that you’ll actually enjoy drinking!
- Greens. 3 cups kale (loosely chopped), stems removed
- Cucumber. We like to use English cucumber because there are few seeds and they have a delicate thin skin.
- Celery. We add just 1 stick of celery.
- Fruit. We like to use a mix of apple (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith), fresh pineapple, and lemon (peeled and chopped).
- Ginger. Fresh ginger root adds a delicious spicy flavor.

Variations
- Use a blend of kale and spinach or kale and super greens, or kale and Romaine lettuce.
- Adjust the amount of fruit added. If you want the juice to be less sweet, then reduce the pineapple to 3/4 cup and use 1/2 apple instead of a whole one. And if you want things sweeter then add a little more fruit to taste.
- Add a fist full of fresh parsley leaves.
- Toss in a knob of fresh turmeric root (chopped) and a pinch of pepper (either black pepper or cayenne).
- Add more ginger if you want a spicer juice.
How to Make Green Juice With A Blender
- Prep Ingredients. Chop ingredients into smaller pieces than you would if feeding through a juicer.
- Blend. Add all of the ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
- Strain. Either enjoy this juice as is (without straining it) or pour the blended juice through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl to eliminate any stringy pieces of root and bits of fruit.
- Enjoy. Drink chilled or over ice. If you don’t want to strain the juice but want a thinner consistency, then pour 1/2 glass full of unstrained green juice, add 3-4 ice cubes, and fill the rest of the glass with water. I prefer not to strain the juice so I can consume all of the nutritional perks the ingredients have to offer.
Tips For Making Green Juice In A Blender
- Use a high powered blender so the ingredients liquify well.
- Chop the ingredients into smaller bite-sized pieces so they will blend easily.
- Add fruit to the bottom of the blender first before adding the other ingredients so the fruit will liquify and make the blending process easier.
- If the ingredients don’t blend well, you can add 1/4 to 1/2 cup water to help the blending process.
- If you want to strain the juice, simply place a large colander over a large bowl and pour the juice over the colander.Using a silicon spatula or a fork, press the pulp against the strainer to separate the pulp from the juice.
- If you want to drink the juice without straining it, enjoy it as is (on the thicker side) or fill a glass 1/2 full of juice, add 3-4 ice cubes, then fill the rest with water and stir.
How To Make Green Juice With A Juicer
- Push the ingredients one at a time through a high powered juicer.
- Stir the juice to blend well and enjoy chilled.
How Long Will It Last?
Store green juice in an airtight container (such as a mason jar) in the refrigerator for up to 1 day, or pour into an ice cube tray and freeze. Transfer the frozen green juice cubes to an airtight container or freezer bag (marking the date on the bag) and freeze for up to 6 months. They’re great to add to smoothies!
