How To Make Hot Apple Cider Vinegar
I like to double this recipe and save leftovers in the refrigerator. I’ll either reheat the tea or add ice and drink it chilled.
- emons and ginger. With a lemon sitting on a countertop, press down hard with the palm of your hand and roll the lemon back and forth a few times. This helps to break the juice away from the pulp. Slices the lemons and peel and slices the ginger.
- Boil water. Bring the water to a boil in a pot.
- Steep ingredients. Turn the heat off and add the lemon, ginger, turmeric and pepper and steep for 30 minutes
- Strain. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the liquids and drink at room temperature or reheat (but don’t bring to a boil)
- Serve. Serve with a teaspoon or two of hone
How Long Will It Last?
This drink can be stored in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for 2-3 day
Do I Have To Add Pepper?
You can choose to omit the pepper from this tea, just note that when combined with turmeric, cayenne pepper (or black pepper) may enhance the absorption of curcumin (key compound in turmeric) by up to 2000%
Is It Necessary To Peel The Ginger First?
It’s not necessary to peel the ginger first, but the skin on the ginger may turn your tea a little brown. If you choose not to peel the ginger first, just be sure to rinse the fresh ginger root well before slicing it.
How To Steep Green Tea Bags
A good standard is to use about 1 teaspoon of loose tea leaves per 1 cup water or 1 tea bag per cup of water.
- Fill a pot with cold water and heat to a simmer just before boiling then remove from heat.
- Add tea bags and steep 1-3 minutes (don’t squeeze tea bag while steeping because it will cause a bitter taste.
- Remove tea bags.
What Is Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar is made from apples that have been crushed, distilled and fermented. It has high levels of acetic acid. Acetic acid is what gives vinegar its strong smell and taste. Organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar with mother contains a murky substance at the bottom of the bottle. This murky substance is called the “mother”. The apple cider vinegar mother is rich with proteins, enzymes and good bacteria. You want to always shake the bottle well (with the lid on of course) to blend the “mother” before use
