This caramel dip for apples is a healthy twist to a classic candy caramel sauce.  It’s naturally sweetened with dates and pure maple syrup so there’s little guilt when enjoying it with apple slices.

We use this Medjool date caramel sauce recipe to make our Healthy Caramel Apples with. They’re a healthy twist to a popular classic fall treat. 

Caramel Apple Dip Recipe

This caramel dip is made with healthy ingredients. It’s vegan and contains no refined sugar.

  • Dates. We use medjool dates for this recipe.
  • Non-Dairy Milk. Use almond milk, oat milk or another nondairy milk that you like.
  • Coconut Oil. You’ll need 2 heaping tablespoons of it.
  • Almond Butter. We use almond butter for this recipe.
  • Pure Maple Syrup. You’ll need 3 – 4 tablespoons of it.
  • Pure Vanilla Extract. Adds a rich flavor to the dipping sauce.  
  • Salt. You’ll need just a pinch.

How To Make Caramel Apple Dip

  1. Simmer Dates. Add the dates to a small pot and cover with just enough water then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer the dates for about 10 minutes.  Remove from heat and drain the water from the dates.
  2. Blend Ingredients. Combine the cooled dates, almond butter, oat milk, coconut oil, pure maple syrup, pure vanilla extract and salt in a food processor or blender. Blend until the caramel sauce is smooth,  If the sauce is too thick, you can add another tablespoon or two of maple syrup or non-dairy milk.
  3. Enjoy. Serve with apple slices and chopped nuts. Dip the apple slices in the caramel apple dip then roll in chopped roasted almonds.

How To Store It

Store leftover Medjool date caramel dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If properly stored, it should last up to 1 week.

Serving Suggestions

  • Red and green apple slices and chopped roasted almonds (or walnuts). Dip an apple slice in the caramel sauce then in chopped nuts. All the flavors of caramel apples without the fuss!

Ingredients

  • 10 Medjool dates, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons almond milk (or another nondairy milk such as coconut milk)
  • 2 heaping tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 heaping tablespoons almond butter
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Add the dates to a small pot.  Cover with water and bring to a boil on the stove.
  2. Reduce heat to low, and simmer the dates for about 10 minutes.  Remove from heat and drain the water from the dates.
  3. Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor or blender.  Blend until the caramel sauce is smooth,  If the sauce is too thick, add another tablespoon or two of non-dairy milk or maple syrup.
  4. Transfer the sauce in a small bowl for dipping. Serve warm or at room temperature.
