Oven Baked Chicken Tenders Recipe

  • Chicken tenderloins. We use chicken tenders (tenderloins) for this recipe, but you could use sliced cutlets or breasts if you like.
  • Butter. We dip the tenders in garlic infused butter before coating them in the cheese breading.
  • Parmesan Cheese. We add Parmesan cheese to the panko crumbs for a tasty coating.
  • Panko. We dredge the chicken tenders in panko bread crumbs after dipping them in melted butter. 
  • Seasoning. Season with a little salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

How To Bake Chicken Tenders In Oven

  1. Mix Panko. In a shallow bowl toss together the panko crumbs and grated parmesan cheese.
  2. Melt Butter. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan. Add the garlic and swirl to give the butter a garlic flavor. 
  3. Coat Chicken. Dip each chicken cutlet in the melted butter then in the panko mixture, making sure both sides are evenly coated. Transfer to a plate or platter and lightly press down on the panko so that it adheres to the chicken. 
  4. Cook Chicken. Bake tenders in the oven until they’re golden.
  5. Season. Lightly season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

How Long To Bake Chicken Tenders

Oven baked chicken tenders will cook in about 10-15 minutes with a temperature set to 400 degrees. 

Tips For Making Baked Chicken Tenders

  • Before coating the tenders, pat them with a paper towel to remove excess moisture to help prevent the bread crumbs from sticking to them.
  • Press down on the panko crumbs so they stick to the tenders well.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of chicken tenderloins
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups panko crumbs
  • 1-1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place a wire cooling rack on a rimmed cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray.
  3. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan. Add the smashed garlic and swirl so the butter is aromatic. Remove from heat and remove the garlic.
  4. Transfer melted butter to shallow bowl. Stir in the salt and pepper.
  5. Mix the panko and Parmesan cheese in a separate shallow dish.
  6. Dip the chicken tenders in the melted butter and then in the panko mixture (pressing firmly so the panko sticks to the chicken). Arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer on the wire rack which is on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the tenders are golden and cooked through.

Notes

Tip

If you don't have a wire cooling rack to bake the tenders on, then brush 2 tablespoons olive oil on cookie sheets and place the coated chicken tenders right on the cookies sheets then bake in the oven. Line the cookie sheet first with foil if you want less clean-up.
